The Struggle to Fit In: Everything Sucks

Title: Everything Sucks
Author: Hanna Friedman
Date of Publication: 2009
Publisher:Health Communication inc.

Like most children Hanna Friedman seem to not appreciate much. She doesn't like home, school or even being on tour with her family. Through out this novel Hanna is growing up and still learning. She had a hard time fitting in. She always think her family isn't "normal" enough. In school girl would make fun of her and Hanna would be offended by it. Friedman soon comes to realize that she doesn't live to impress other people. She lives to satisfy herself.
Like every family Friedman goes through struggles at home. Money in scarce, parents aren't getting along and school is hard. She finds her ways to get through theses struggles even if they harm her. She then begins to learn right from wrong in college when she makes a life changing choice. Hanna learns her lesson and she then realizes to appreciate life as it is.

Quote: "I'm proud of him. I watch my family. I love them" (Friedman 181)
Reaction: It took a while for Hanna to love her family. She was always ashamed of them and denying them. She always wanted to be different than her family. I like how Hanna makes her changes obvious and clearly says how or why she changed. I think this quote is important because it makes me realize that i shouldn't also be afraid of my family or even ashamed of them.
